Chargebee offers three standard pricing plans:

  • Starter: Free for the first USD 250K of cumulative billing, then 0.75% on billing.
  • Billing Retention Performance: USD 599 per month (annual commitment, billed monthly) for up to USD 100K billing per month, then 0.75% on billing. This plan includes features like advance and consolidated invoices, quotes, engineering consultation, smart dunning, and migration support.
  • Enterprise: For large businesses entering new markets, driving M&A, and momentous pre-IPO scale. The pricing for this plan is tailored to your needs.

Each plan has a fixed amount that covers up to a certain set of revenue and an overage % if you exceed the processing volume covered under the plan. The pricing is based on the monthly revenue you process through Chargebee. If your monthly revenue exceeds beyond what’s covered in the Scale Plan, you can reach out to Chargebee's Sales Team to get a custom pricing quote.

Payment Method

Chargebee.com supports a variety of payment methods to best suit your business model, your country of incorporation, and your customer base. Here are the types of payment methods supported:

  1. Cards: Accept payments via credit, debit, and prepaid cards. To use this payment method, an integration with a payment gateway supported by Chargebee and a merchant account should be in place.
  2. Direct Debit Payments: If you are a merchant based in the US, UK, or Europe, you can accept payments via direct debit. Direct debit payments are processed by different methods in different regions: ACH in the US, BACS in the UK, SEPA in the Eurozone, AutoGiro in Sweden, BECS in New Zealand and Australia, and PADs in Canada.
  3. Bank-Based Payments: Connect with popular bank-based payment methods across the globe. These include Klarna Pay Now, Online Banking Poland, iDEAL, Bancontact, and Giropay.
  4. Credit Transfer: An electronic transfer of money directly from one account to another.
  5. PayPal: Offer your customers the option to pay using their PayPal accounts. To use this payment option, a PayPal Business account is needed.
  6. Amazon Payments: Offer your customers the option to pay using their Amazon Wallets.

If you have custom payment pages hosted at your end, depending on the type of payment method (Card, PayPal, Amazon, Direct debit via ACH), information can be pushed to Chargebee via API. This would be the case in several scenarios. For example, if you have custom payment pages hosted at your end, card information can be passed to Chargebee while performing several API operations such as creating a customer, creating a subscription, updating card for a customer, etc. If you use Stripe.js to host your payment pages, after the customer fills in the card information during checkout or card update, the card information is directly sent to Stripe. Stripe then returns a temporary token to identify the particular card's information. This temporary token has to be pushed to Chargebee in the form of the parameter card [tmp_token]. The following API operations can be used to add/update card information in such cases: Create a customer, Create a subscription, Update card for a customer. Note that the customer information (First name, last name, etc.) is obtained directly from Stripe in this scenario. Even if you try passing the information directly to Chargebee, the customer information present at Stripe is considered. If you have directly integrated with PayPal Express Checkout (Reference Transactions) or Pay with Amazon (Login & Pay with Amazon) on your website, when customers add/update their payment method, a Billing Agreement ID is generated. This Billing Agreement ID has to be pushed to Chargebee by specifying the payment method [type] and payment method [reference_id] parameters. The following API operations can be used to add/update payment method information in such cases: Create a customer, Create a subscription, Update payment method for a customer. Note that at any given time, only one of the given three scenarios is possible for defining a payment method for a customer. For example, if you try to pass card [tmp_token] (Scenario 2) and the card [number] parameter while creating a customer, this would result in an error. Chargebee Return Policy?

Chargebee.com has a refund policy in place. When a payment is refunded, the funds received from a customer are returned. Refunds can be either partial (only a portion of the amount is refunded) or full (the entire amount is refunded). There can be several reasons for refunding a subscription such as incorrect charge, cancellation, or unsatisfactory service.

In Chargebee, there are two ways to issue a refund:

  • Online: The refund is processed through the Gateway to the same payment method.
  • Offline: The refund is recorded in Chargebee but paid out by the merchant by other means outside of Chargebee, such as cash.

For both operations, Credit Notes will be generated for the refunds made. Refunds can only be made within a specific period of time from the date of the transaction. The period allowed for refund depends on the gateway that was used for the transaction.

Please note that Chargebee will not let you refund more than what is on the invoice. Making partial refunds against an invoice in Chargebee is also subject to the associated payment gateway(s) supporting partial refunds.

How To Open A Chargebee Account?

To open an account on chargebee.com, follow these steps:

  1. Sign up for a Sandbox account with an email address.
  2. After submitting the email address, a Test site is logged into. The URL will be something like "your-site-1234.chargebee.com". A verification email is also sent.
  3. The verification email consists of a link that allows to complete setting up the account.
  4. The account can now be claimed and a domain name specified. A password can be set to access the account.
  5. After the account is claimed, it can be logged into with the email address and password. When ready to enable the live account, the go live button can be hit (Insert- top Left corner). Choose a plan that suits the business needs.

If multiple Chargebee sites/accounts are needed, sign up again using a different email address (which can later be changed).
